A ciência e a investigação são os pilares do conhecimento. Através de um processo dinâmico de observação, experimentação e análise, pretende-se descrever, explicar, compreender, prever fenómenos e comportamentos, utilizando método científico.

Ao longo dos anos a investigação nas ciências da saúde e da vida tem vindo a estabelecer novas pontes, permitindo novos conhecimentos e uma melhor integração das diferentes áreas da saúde. Sustentada numa forte competência teórica e metodológica, e mantendo uma cooperação multidisciplinar é possível abordar problemas complexos e essenciais para o progresso da humanidade. A ciência permite ir mais além, alcançar a excelência e vislumbrar os diferentes sistemas vivos.
